-how did the band come together?
We come up together as stranger…seeing each other every shows listening and watching some bands performing on local areas until we know each other through friends,conversing about heavy music, drinking beer, sharing any ideas on how we come up with a kind of music and till we create some form of relation not just as a musicians but also close friends…

-was music always an element in your lives?
Music is always be a part of each and everyone of our lives…nobody i think is so boring enough not to listen to any form of music…even insane individual as you seen on streets can scream/dance heheh

-what introduced/influenced you to metal?
Pantera influenced me a lot during my highschool days, those guys got really the attitude, the skills, the killer performance onstage…they really kicks everyone’s ass…

-listening currently to what? (bands…n watever)
Inside here on cd, were listening to Pantera albums, tons of thrashmetal, deathmetal and grindcore classics…

-other than being metalcore, what else can you say about your music?
Hahaha Metalcore?who told you about it? it really makes sense sometimes coz people started to label those bands around in a wrong way….Were just 5 guys playing heavy music in any kind, at least we have some changes since we started 2000 we learn something more as we go on…We are just playing Metal!…period.

-what is Hatemail really all about?
Hatemail is all about the negativity around you, most people haunts you because of a certain guilt, anxiety or shall we say personal demons on you…you want retaliation then you have it, you wanted to kill those who pisses you then you can, you can cheat, corrupt money then you can…Strength comes really from individual. Whether someone gives you advice, they cant do nothing if you have the will to do on it. In our case, Hatemail turns it something in
balance, we have also our own darkness in our hearts but we just put it in a way of making it in a song, in a lyrics…thats why Hatemail is the best name for us…

-do you take on the other sub-genres of metalcore? or experiment with other genres?
We really always want to do something new each songs we made…

-your favorite tracks? y?
Almost all songs we made is my favorite track coz its different…"Waiting to Die" on track number 6 for me is really the song that can never be taken away in my heart, its about the
memories of my father, im writing on that song beside him before few days left on his life…

-what’s the songwritting process?
We create some riffs, put it together…as simple as we can be…then blast off!!!

-does "hatemail" get lots of chicks?
Really??? hahahha im not so sure…lets party girls, come on…hahahha(jokes)

-are you in favor of the "sugbuak"?
NO!!! Unity is the Answer…

-you guys are skilled musicians..(wink wink hhahaha)..but what was the sickest session or gig you had?
I think last 2003 of Halloween, when we play only 3 of us (Carlo, Val, Marco) without bassist and one guitarist…but still we blasted that night. A nice lesson also for us.

-are we expecting a full-length soon???
Maybe if we can produce for it….we have bunch of new songs waiting…

-what’s in store for Hatemail in the future?
Not really sure about the merchandise, we wont promise but hope sooner we can have shirts, stickers and cds for you out there…

-watchtink about the "metuuhl" scene here in cebu?
Funny,Amusing…well you can see "how united" the metal scene here…

-to the newbies in the scene..what have you got to say to them? (toinx..)
Just be yourselves man! dont be to cool…you can wear deathmetal shirt all you want, we dont really care what music you into…just dont be just a bunch of "fucking experts" around who talks to much shit and pretend to be "know-at-all" kind. We’ve seen bunch of kids in a certain community here in Cebu wearing corpsepaint, inverted crosses, pentagrams in and ADIO SKATE SHIRT, Wearing Nile/Morbid Angel shirts who talks too much how expert they are…Your putting metal into shame,the discipline was gone, you guys just upbringing Falsemetal…and you know who you are guys and we know who you are….as this quote inspired by the Cebuano Deathmetal Band "BARANG"…"LOLO’ NINYO!!!"

Explain the song writing process for Hatemail

We just simply write songs and music as simple as we can be…putting a little groove, a little technical and complexity and speed on it..

Explain your music and tell us what Hatemail is all about!

Our music is basically all about whats happening to each and everyone, whether its good or bad things goin on, its all about life and death, its all about us(people), sometimes we touches topics on politics,philosophy and beliefs, dark emotions…Why Hatemail? Fuck the World! We just love that name…we’ve got a lot of hatemail, people mostly hates what we do, mostly from the metal scene here in Cebu City, and i dont know why is it happening to us…its just like a curse…but we dont really care about it and we are much thankful to those fuckers who hates us because they just making us more stronger..

What’s the inspiration behind your release “In a World of Confusion”?

At that time, our closest friends from the different bands really pushes us to have songs of our own, inspiring us to be just ourselves and see what we(Hatemail) can do…the heavy music here in Cebu particularly in metal community is almost dead and gone…its because of the musical discrimination…with the bands, with the productions and organizers. We are taking risk of playing with different crowd…its because of trendy music arises at that time, but who cares…we have our own shit and we damn well know who’s people are into our music. and for us, what we do at that time is a success because the heavy music in Cebu is trying to be back, with more bands particularly in metal and hardcore community…sad to say there’s still this thing, musical discrimination….

Any new material in the works? What can we expect from it?

We just end up writing our new song entitled "Erased". Its all about those lives lost in an accident, i mean the nuclear accident happened in Ukraine, the Reactor #4. Theres no one lives in there thats why it was called "The Ghost Town".

When can we expect a follow up to “In a World of Confusion”?

As of now we cant promise you all when to have a follow up on that after the Confusion…we are still on a writing process and be ready for the next set of record…

Do you guys have any upcoming shows or tours?
We are going to play Let the Blood Spill show this coming Saturday February 24 @ FMJ Bar Escario St. , its a metal and hardcore show and also this coming March 16’s Spawn of thy Elder Gods at Mojito’s Bar Panagdait Mabolo with Cebu’s deathmetal and other metal bands…

Any plans of touring in Luzon especially in Manila?

We’ve got many invitations mostly in Laguna, Cavite and Manila but due to some problems regarding work schedules…we just dont know when to play from different places, but hope we can play some other time….and we love playing with different bands sharing one on stage…

What can we expect from Hatemail in 2007?
